(iv) means of cutting off the current close to the battery by a suitable switch shall be provided.
198. Fire extinguishing apparatus to the satisfaction of the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade shall be carried in an accessible position on the vehicle.
199. No person while on or attending to any vehicle. or trailer conveying petroleum spirit shall smoke.
200.-(1) Subject to the provisions of regulation 205, petroleum spirit shall not be conveyed on any public vehicle engaged in carrying passengers.
(2) Petroleum spirit shall not be conveyed on any tricycle which is not mechanically propelled.
201. All persons engaged in the loading, unloading or conveyance of petroleum spirit shall observe all precautions necessary for preventing fire or explosion.
202. It shall not be lawful on a highway, to fill or replenish with petroleum spirit the fuel tanks of mechanically driven vehicles direct from vehicles carrying petroleum spirit
in a tank.
203. Every precaution shall be taken to prevent any petroleum spirit escaping into any drain or sewer.
204. The owner of every vehicle or trailer used for the conveyance of petroleum spirit shall furnish a copy of these regulations to, or affix a copy thereof in some place where it can be conveniently read by every person employed in connexion with such conveyance and such owner shall take all other measures necessary to ensure that every such person is acquainted with and carries out the provisions of this Part.
205. This Part shall not apply to the carriage on a vehicle of petroleum spirit for use only in the propulsion of that vehicle.
206. This Part shall not apply to the conveyance on a vehicle (not being a tank wagon or a public vehicle used for the conveyance of passengers) of—
(a) petroleum spirit in quantities not exceeding thirty-two gallons contained either in securely closed containers of a capacity not exceeding four gallons each or in securely closed metal cases or drums of a capacity not exceeding ten gallons each, or
(b) petroleum spirit in quantities not exceeding sixty-five gallons contained in a single securely closed steel barrel.
207. The Licensing Authority may, on being satisfied that, in respect of any vehicle or class of vehicles or any mode of conveyance, any of the requirements of this Part may be safely suspended or relaxed, authorize such suspension or relaxation for such period and under such conditions as he may think fit.
