EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.
ORDINANCE No. 38 of 1932. (PRISONS).
By virtue and in pursuance of the powers contained in section 17 of the Prisons Ordinance, 1932, the Governor in Council amends the Prison Rules published on pages 240 and 241 of the Regulations of Hong Kong 1844-1925 as follows:
Amendments.
1. Paragraph (a) of Rule 317 and paragraph (4) of Rule 318 and Rule 320 are rescinded and Rule 319 is renumbered as 320.
2. The following rule is substituted for Rule 319-
319. Corporal punishment, not exceeding twenty-four strokes either with a light cane or rattan, or cat-o'-nine tails, in the case of an adult, or twelve strokes with a light cane or rattan in the case of a juvenile, may be awarded by the Commissioner to any male offender, after evidence has been taken upon oath, affirmation or declaration, for the following offences only-
(a) repeated serious offences against prison discipline; (b) personal violence to any person;
(c) grossly abusive or offensive language; or
(d) any act of grave misconduct or insubordination,
Provided that, in the opinion of the Commissioner, having regard to the character of the offender and to the state of discipline in the prison, the other forms of punishment allowed by these Rules would be ineffective.

THE BUILDINGS ORDINANCE, 1935.
No. 120. His Excellency the Governor in Council has been pleased to direct under section 5 of the Buildings Ordinance, 1935, Ordinance No. 18 of 1935, that the name of Mr. WONG AH WEE (Wong SECK WEE) be added to the List of Authorized Architects published in Government Notification No. 474 of the 8th May, 1939.
