No. 85.-It is hereby notified that a vacancy has occurred on the Urban Council, necessitating an election.
Nominations of candidates to fill the vacancy are invited.
Each nomination must be in writing, signed by two electors, countersigned by the candidate and delivered in a sealed envelope to the Presiding Officer at the Registry, Supreme Court, not later than 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the 31st January, 1940.
Nomination forms may be obtained at the Registry, Supreme Court, where the registers of electors referred to in section 3 of the Urban Council Ordinance, 1935, may be inspected.
It is the duty of every candidate to satisfy himself that his nomination form is correctly completed before delivery thereof to the Presiding Officer.
This notification is gazetted pursuant to the Rules for the election of members of the Urban Council contained in Schedule C of the repealed Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, which said Rules remain in force by virtue of section 4 of the Urban Council Ordinance, 1935.
