HONG KONG VOLUNTEER DEFENCE CORPS.

No. S. 483. It is hereby notified that separate tenders in triplicate which should be sealed and clearly marked "Tenders for the purchase of Saddlery" will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until noon on Monday 19th December, 1938 for the purchase of a quantity of Saddlery as it lies at Headquarters, Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps.

No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited with the Accountant-General the sum of $50 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person refuses to carry out his tender in tue event of his tender being accepted. Deposits will be returned when the name of the successful tenderer is published.

The Saddlery may be seen on application to the Quartermaster, Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps on any day (Sundays excluded) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.

1. Anti-Aircraft firing will be carried out from FORT DAVIS and CENTURION FORT, STONECUTTERS ISLAND on Thursday, 15th December, 1938 between the hours of 1830 and 2400 hours.

Alternative night-Friday, 16th December, 1938.

Firing area" E" will be affected.

2. Anti-Aircraft firing practice will be carried out from SAI WAN on Friday, 16th December, 1938 between the hours of 1830 to 2400 hours.

Alternative night-Saturday, 17th December, 1938.

Firing area "A" will be affected.

3. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the Firing Practice by hastening through the firing area affected, or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.
