NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.
Firing Practice will be carried out from STONECUTTERS ISLAND between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. on 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 20th and 29th September, 1938.
Firing Practice will be carried out from STONECUTTERS ISLAND between the hours of 7.00 p.m. and 12 midnight on 19th, 22nd, 28th and 30th September, 1938.
Alternative days-23rd, 27th September, 1938, and 4th, 5th and 6th October, 1938. Firing area E" will be affected.
Firing Practice will be carried out from STANLEY between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. on 3rd October, 1938.
Alternative days-10th to 14th October, 1938, (inclusive).
Firing Areas "C" and "D" will be affected.
Firing Practice will be carried out from MOUNT DAVIS between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. on 6th October, 1938.
Alternative days-10th to 14th October, 1938, (inclusive).
Firing Areas"D" and "E" will be affected.
In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10 are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing area affected, or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

HARBOUR DEPARTMENT.
No. S. 272.-Sealed tenders in quadruplicate which should be clearly marked Tenders for the supply of Coal to the Hong Kong Government", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, 12th September, 1938, for the supply of Coal to the Government for a period of one year as from 1st January, 1939.
The quantity of coal will vary according to requirements, and prices should be quoted for each of the following grades.
(a) Anthracite Coal about 150 tons.
(b) Household Coal (Double Screened) about 1,900 tons.
(c) Launch Dust Coal about 9,000 tons.
(d) 80% Lump Coal for Pumping Stations, and Quarries, &c., about 7,200 tons.
1. Before final acceptance of the tenders, tenderers must be prepared to forward to
the Government Analyst on demand, samples of the Coal offered.
2. The origin and name of the Coal should be stated in each case.
The prices quoted should include delivery charges to destination.
Free storage will not be provided.
Information as to the places of delivery may be obtained at the Harbour Office.
3. The rebate on supplies falling below standard shall be based on calorific value of the Coal.
