Although these words in brackets occur also in section 2 (4) of the "Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1885 (48 & 49 Vict. c. 69) they appear to afford an unnecessary pro- tection to brothels. The existing section of the Ordinance already departs from the provisions of the Act in that offences under paragraph (a) are excluded from the protection afforded by sub-section (2).
