The rainfall for the month of January at the Botanical Gardens was 2ins. 43 on 8 days, at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellett, it was ins. 85 on 7 days, at Fanling, it was 2ins. 28 on 7 days, at the Royal Naval Hospital, Hong Kong, it was 2ins. 00 on 7 days, and at the Police Station, Taipo, it was 2ins. 38 on 10 days.
The lowest reading of the barometer (M.S.L.) was 29ins. 973 at 16h on the 2nd.
The maximum gust velocity, as recorded by the Dines-Baxendell anemograph, was at the rate of 39 miles per hour at 1h. 50m. on the 19th.
The mean maximum temperature, 59°1, was the lowest on record, the previous record being 592 in January, 1918. The mean temperature for the month, 54°6, was the lowest on record except in 1918, when it was 54°0.
