REPORTS OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE.

4. The Colonial Secretary laid on the table the Reports of the Finance Committee (Nos. 15 and 16), dated 31st October, 1929, and 22nd November, 1929, respectively, and moved their adoption.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

MOTIONS.

5. The Colonial Secretary moved the following resolution :-

Resolved that the percentage on the valuation of tenements payable as rates for tenements in Laichikok, Wong Uk, Cheung Sha Wan and Kowloon Old City shall be 9 per cent. as from the date fixed by His Excellency the Governor for the coming into effect of this resolution.

The Colonial Treasurer seconded.

Question put and agreed to.

6. The Colonial Secretary moved the following By-law :-

That the By-law made by the Sanitary Board under section 6 (43) (b) and 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, on the 29th day of October, 1929, be adopted.

The Attorney General seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

7. Stamp Amendment Bill.-The Attorney General addressed the Council and moved the First reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend further the Stamp Ordinance, 1921."

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question-put and agreed to. Bill read a first time.
