THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, AUGUST 23, 1929.

1. The Principal Order shall extend to the Portuguese Colonies and to the Spanish Colonies as if those Colonies were amongst the Foreign Countries therein named, subject to the following modifications:--

(a) The provisions of Article (2), proviso (iii) (a) shall apply as if the said Colonies were included amongst the Foreign Countries named in those provisions.

(b) In the application of the provisions of Article (3) of the Principal Order to works of which the country of origin is any of the said Colonies the date of this Order shall be substituted for the Commencement of the Act and for the Commencement of the Principal Order.

(e) In the application to such works of Sections 1 (2) (d) and 19 of the Copy- right Act, 1911, the date of this Order shall be substituted for the Commencement of the Act and for the passing of the Act in Sections 19 (7) and 19 (8) wherever those expressions occur.

(d) In the application to such works of Section 24 of the Copyright Act, 1911, the date of this Order shall be substituted for the Commencement of the Act wherever that expression occurs in Subsection (1) (a), and for the 26th July, 1910, in Subsection (1) (b).

2. This Order may be cited as the Berne Copyright Convention (Portuguese Colonies and Spanish Colonies) Order, 1929.

And the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury are to give the necessary orders accordingly.

No. 429.-The following Finding of the Marine Court of Enquiry held on the 21st August, 1929, to enquire into a charge of misconduct on the part of Mr. W. C. C. Becks, First Mate (River Trade only) of the British Steamship Kwong Fook Cheong, is published for general information.

We find that at 6.45 p.m. on August 2nd, 1929, the British S.S. Kwong Fook Cheong Official No. 152,106 of Hong Kong of which Mr. William Perritt (Certificate of Compe- tency as Master No. 001820 of Glasgow) was Master left Hong Kong on a voyage for Kong Moon.

That Mr. William Claude Cyril Becks who was on the Articles of the said ship as Chief Officer and who holds Certificate of Competency as 1st Mate (River Trade only) No. 3691 of Hong Kong did miss the ship without sufficient cause not having previously obtained leave of absence from the Master.
