MOTIONS.

7. The Hon. Sir HENRY E. POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., moved the following resolution:--

"That, in the opinion of this Council, it is imperative in the interests of this Colony, that all the permanent measures to increase the water supply, which are referred to in the Report of Mr. R. M. HENDERSON, dated the 20th February, 1928, (other than those which have already been com- pleted) be proceeded with and completed as soon as possible."

The motion was seconded by the Hon. Sir SHOUSON CHOW, Kt.

After discussion the Hon. Sir HENRY E. POLLOCK amended his resolution to read

"That in the opinion of this Council it is imperative in the interests of this Colony that permanent measures to increase the water supply of this Colony should be pressed on with the utmost despatch."

This was seconded by the Hon. Sir SHOUSON CHOW, Kt., and carried unanimously. 8. Mercantile Bank Note Issue Amendment Bill.--The Hon. Mr. W. E. L. SHENTON addressed the Council and moved the First reading of a Bill intituled Ordinance to extend for a further period the powers granted by the Mer- An cantile Bank Note Issue Ordinance, 1911, to the Mercantile Bank of India, Limited, to make, issue, re-issne, and circulate notes in the Colony." The Hon. Mr. R. H. KOTEWALL, C.M.G., LL.D. seconded. Question-put and agreed to.

Bill read a first time.

9. Waterworks Amendment Bill.--The Attorney General addressed the Council and moved the First reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend the Waterworks Ordinance, 1903."

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

ADJOURNMENT.

10. The Council then adjourned until Thursday, the 25th day of July, 1929.
