No. 278.-Sir JOSEPH HORSFORD KEMP, Kt., K.C., C.B.E., having returned to the Colony resumed duty as Attorney General on the 28th May, 1929.

No. 279.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. DAVID WILLIAM TRATMAN to act as Colonial Secretary, with effect from 29th May, 1929.

No. 280. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. EDWARD IRVINE WYNNE-JONES to be Assistant Colonial Secretary and Clerk of Counci's, with effect from 29th May, 1929.

With reference to Government Notification No. 118, the Counsellors of State on behalf of His Majesty the KING have been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Mr. THOMAS HENRY KING to be an Official Member of the Legislative Council during his tenure of office as Acting Captain Superintendent of Police.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 282. With reference to Government Notification No. 384 of the 6th July, 1928, published in the Hong Kong Government Gazette of the 6th of July, 1928, it is hereby notified that the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation of the 16th of October, 1884, between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Paraguay has been renewed for a further period of twelve months to the 24th of February, 1930, or until a new Treaty is concluded if that should occur earlier.
