1. The Council met pursuant to adjournment. His Excellency the Governor

occupied the Chair.

MINUTES.

2. The Minutes of the Meeting held on the 28th February, 1929, were confirmed.

OATHS.

3. His Excellency the General Officer Commanding the Troops, (Major-General JAMES WALTER Sandilands, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O.), and the Hon. Mr. THOMAS HENRY KING, (Acting Captain Superintendent of Police) took the oath of allegiance on taking their seats as Members of Council.

ANNOUNCEMENTS,

4. His Excellency the Governor addressing the Council welcomed His Excellency Major-General SANDILANDS on taking his seat in Council. His Excellency expressed the universal regret felt by Honourable Members and the Colony generally at the departure of Major-General LUARD and his family.

Sir HENRY POLLOCK and Sir Shousox Chow also addressed the Council.

6. The Colonial Secretary laid on the table the Report of the Finance Committee.

(No. 2), dated the 28th February, 1929, and moved its adoption.

QUESTIONS.

7. The Hon. Sir HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., pursuant to notice, asked the

following questions:----

1. In view of the remarks made by the President of the Kowloon Residents' Association, at their recent Annual Meeting, with refer- ence to the Kowloon-Canton Railway blocking the development of the Southern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, will the Government appoint a Committee for the purpose of inquiring and reporting to this Council as to

(1) The feasibility of,

(ii) The desirability of, and

iii) The cost of

transferring the terminus of the Kowloon-Canton Railway to the East side of the Kowloon Peninsula?
