No. 189.--It is hereby notified that, on the application of the CHINA SUGAR REFIN- ING COMPANY, LIMITED, and of GEORGE MORISOX SHAW, Sugar Refiner, and HECTOR MCEWAN MCTAVISH of Victoria, in the Colony of Hongkong, His Excellency the Governor in Council has been pleased to direct that the said CHINA SUGAR REFINING COMPANY, LIMITED, and GEORGE MORTSON SHAW, Sugar Refiner, and HECTOR MCEWAN MCTAVISH may use and publish in the Colony for a period of nine months from the 30th day of April, 1918, an invention for the manufacture treatment and preparation of carbon for use in colouri- zing sugar solutions and in the clarification of sugar syrups without prejudice to the Letters Patent to be granted for the said invention.
