It is hereby proclaimed by order of His Excellency the Governor in Council that the Philippine Islands are a place at which an infectious or contagious disease prevails.

No. 169. His Majesty the King has not been advised to exercise his power of dis- allowance with respect to the following Ordinance :-

Ordinance No. 14 of 1917.—An Ordinance to authorize the Appropriation of a Supplementary Sum of Two hundred and ninety-one thousand two hundred and seventy- three Dollars and ninety-seven Cents to defray the Charges of the year 1916.

TRADING WITH THE ENEMY AMENDMENT ACT, 1916.

Orders have been made by the Board of Trade requiring the undermentioned businesses to be wound up :

503. R. J. Montfort, 4, Manchester-avenue, Aldersgate-street, E.C., Agent and Merchant. Controller: Horace Evelyn Sier, 99, Cheapside, London, E.C. 4th February, 1918.

504. Anton Lipman, 49, Aldermanbury, London, E.C., Manufacturer's Agent. Controller: William Alfred Slade, 9, Old Jewry Chambers, London, E.C. 5th February, 1918.

NOTE 1. The above Orders appeared in the London Gazette of the 8th February, 1918.

NOTE 2.-A list of Orders made under the above Act was published as a note to Notification 548 in the Hongkong Gazette of the 14th December, 1917. This list gives all the Orders published in the Hongkong Gazette up to the 31st December, 1917. Subsequent Orders have been published in the Hongkong Gazettes of the 25th January, and 8th February, 1918.

NOTE 3.-Orders Nos. 501 and 502 cannot be traced.
