The rainfall for the month of January at the Botanical Gardens was 0. 01 on 1 day, at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellett, it was 0.00 on O day, and at the Police Station, Taipo, it was Qius. 00 on 0 day.
January 1918 has been a record month. The mean barometer pressure and total amount of sunshine were the greatest on record, and the temperature, humidity and cloudiness the least on record. The wind direction (N. 63° E.) was the most northerly on record except in 1898 and 1899, when it was N. 62° E. The wind velocity was the least on record except in 1916 when it was 106 m.p.h.
