And whereas by section 1 of the Fugitive Offenders (Protected States) Act 1915 it was provided that His Majesty by Order in Council might direct that the Fugitive Offenders Act 1881 should apply as if subject to the conditions exceptions and qualifications (if any) contained in the Order any place or group of places over which His Majesty extends his protection named in the Order were a British Possession :

And whereas by the Straits Settlements and Protected States Fugitive Offenders Order in Council 1916 it was ordered that subject to the provisions of that Order the Fugitive Offenders Act 1881 should apply as if the Federated Malay States and the States of Johore Kedah and Perlis Kelantan Brunei and North Borneo were British Possessions:

And whereas by the Straits Settlements and Protected States Fugitive Offenders Order in Council 1917 it was ordered that subject to the provisions of the said Order and to the provisions of the Straits Settlements and Protected States Fugitive Offenders Order in Council 1916 the Fugitive Offenders Act 1881 should apply as if the States of Sarawak and Trengganu were British Possessions :

And whereas by an Order of His Majesty in Council issued on the 2nd day of January 1918 and to come into operation on the 1st day of February 1918 it is pro- vided that on and after the 1st day of February 1918 the herein before recited Order in Council of the 12th day of December 1885 shall be revoked without prejudice to anything lawfully done thereunder or to any proceedings commenced before the said date and that Part II of the Fugitive Offenders Act 1881 shall apply to the group of British Possessions and Protected States hereunder mentioned that is to say British India Ceylon Hongkong the Straits Settlements the Federated Malay States Johore Kedah and Perlis Kelantan Trengganu Brunei North Borneo and Sarawak and that the Governor General of India and the Governors of Ceylon Hongkong and of the Straits Settlements shall cause the said Order to be proclaimed in the territories and colonies under their respective government:

NOW THEREFORE I Sir FRANCIS HENRY MAY Knight Commander of the Most Dis- tinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George Governor and Commander in Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same do hereby proclaim the said last recited Order in the Colony of Hongkong.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the pro- visions of Section 10 of the Medical Registration Ordinance, 1884, Ordinance No. 1 of 1884, Dr. ROBERT MACLEAN GIBSON and Mrs. DAISY ANNABELA MURDOCH GALE to be Members of the Medical Board, vice Dr. G. E. AUBREY and Dr. O. MARRIOTT resigned, for a term of three years, with effect from the 30th January, 1918.
