No. 527.-The scales of charges for medical treatment in the Government Hos- pitals and Asylums, published in the Gazette of the 8th October, 1926, as Notification No. 556, are hereby cancelled and the following scales are substituted therefor :-
SCALE OF CHARGES FOR MAINTENANCE AND MEDICAL TREATMENT IN GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS (OTHER THAN THE PEAK HOSPITAL AND VICTORIA HOSPITAL, MATERNITY WARDS) AND ASYLUMS.

Children under twelve years of age are charged at half the foregoing rates in each
Naval and Military patients will be charged in accordance with the scale for "private patients”.
Proprietary medicines or drugs not contained in the British Pharmacopoeia will be charged for if supplied by the Government.
Private patients, other than Government or Naval or Military patients, charged 1st or 2nd class daily rates for maintenance, will be subject to the following additional charges:-
(1) For medical attendance, a charge at the rate of one third of the rate for
maintenance.
(2) For surgical operations, such charge, not exceeding $300, as the Director of Medical and Sanitary Services shall think fit having regard to the nature of the operation. This charge will be in addition to the above charge for medical attendance.
