APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 687.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Private JouN DURRAN, as Medical Officer in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with effect from the 17th December, 1928.

No. 688.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Khan Sahib NAWAB KHAN and Sirdar Sahib MOHINDER SINGH to be Assistant Superintendents of Police, with effect from the 1st January, 1929.

Order under section 92 (8) of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, Ordinance No. 1 of 1903, made by the Office Administering the Government on the 21st day of December, 1928.

WHEREAS I, WILFRID THOMAS SJUTHORN, Companion of the Most Distin- guished Order of Saint Michael an Sunt George, Officer Administering the Govern- ment of the Colony of Hong Kong and ts Dependencies and Vice Admiral of the same, deem it expedient for the execution o a public purpose to remove all graves in those portions of the Cheung Sha Wan Cemetery shewn on a plan referred to in Government Notification No. 367 of 29th June, 19: 8 NOW, I by this Order under my hand by virtue of the power in that behalf vested n me by section 92 (8) of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance. 1903, and all o her powers thereto me enabling DO HEREBY ORDER AND DIRECT that the said gr.ves be removed to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works einer by the Public Works Department or by the Tung Wah Hospital should Board of Direction desire to undertake the work and that the remains removed from such graves shall be re-interred or disposed of in such manner as the Secretary for Chinese Affairs in consultation with the Head of the Sanitary Department and the Board of Direction of the Tung Wah Hospital shall think fit and that all reason- able expenses in connection with such removal, re-interment and disposal shall be defrayed out of the public revenue of the Colony.
