No. 659.-It is hereby notified that a competitive examination for the Indian Civil Service, open to all qualified persons, will be held in London in July and August, 1929, and that copies of the regulations, syllabus of examination, and forms of applica- tion to be filled up by the candidates may be seen on application at this Office.

No. 660.-A qualifying examination for appointments of Probationer Clerks in Government Service will be held in Queen's College Hall on Monday, 14th January, at 9 a.m.

Intending candidates must forward to the Assistant Colonial Secretary on or before Monday, 7th January, a certificate as to character and education from the Headmaster of their last school together with one unmounted photograph on the back of which should. be written their name, address and date of birth.

No. 661.—The following Finding of the Marine Court of Enquiry held on the 6th December, 1928, to enquire into a charge of misconduct against Mr. P. SCULLY, Mate of the British Steamship Chuen Chow, is published for general information.

FINDING.

We find that Mr. P. SCULLY, mate of the British S. S. Chuen Chow Certificate of Competency as Master No. 4389 River Trade only, of Hong Kong was, guilty of gross misconduct (drunkenness) on the S. S. Chuen Chow on November 24th, 25th and 26th, 1928, and we adjudge that he be severely censured. The Court further adds that they consider the Master was at fault in not preventing PATRICK SCULLY from obtaining further alcohol when he first observed his condition.

Given under our hands at Victoria, in the Colony of Hong Kong, this 6th day of December, 1928.
