EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

No. 348.

Regulation made by the Governor in Council under section 2 (1) of the Passports Ordinance, 1923, Ordinance No. 35 of 1923, on the 19th day of June, 1928.

1. Regulation 2 of the Passports Regulations set forth in the Schedule to the Pass- ports Ordinance, 1923, amended as appears in Government Notification No. 486 pub- lished in the Gazette of the 29th August, 1924, is hereby repealed, and the following Regulation is hereby substituted therefor

2. No passport shall be deemed to be valid if an indication appears thereon that it is not valid for Hong Kong, nor unless—

(1) it was issued or renewed to the holder, by or on behalf of the Government of the state of which he is a subject or citizen, not more than five years before his arrival in the Colony; and

(2) it has a photograph of the person to whom it relates so affixed as to obviate the possibility of its removal and the substitution of another photograph; and

(3) in the case of a person who is neither a British subject nor a subject of a state which has concluded with Great Britain an agreement, which applies to this Colony, for the mutual abolition of visas, it bears a visa, by a British consular officer in a foreign state or by a duly authorised public officer in some part of His Majesty's dominions, which was granted not more than one year before the arrival of such person in the Colony, and which is not, by or in consequence of its terms, inapplicable to the journey on which the holder is engaged or which he has completed by his arrival in the Colony.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 349.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased, under section 4 of the Midwives Ordinance, 1910, Ördinance No. 22 of 1910, to re-appoint Dr. RICHARD EDWARD TOTTENHAM to be a Member of the Midwives Board for a further term of three years, with effect from the 8th May, 1928.

No. 350.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. HENRY ROBERT BUTTERS to act as Deputy Clerk of Councils, with effect from the 18th June, 1928.
