4. Increased accommodation cannot be provided at Victoria Gaol. Government is at present investigating possible sites on which to build a new prison.

MOTIONS.

7. Chinese Temples Bill. The Hon. Sir SHOUSON CHOW, Kt., addressed the Council and stated that a Petition had been received from certain Temple keepers concerning the Chinese Temples Bill. He requested leave to move that the Second reading should stand over until the Petition had been considered. The Hon. Mr. R. H. KOTEWALL, C.M.G., LL.D. seconded.

Ordinance No. 7 of 1928.-An Ordinance to suppress and prevent abuses in the management of Chinese temples and in the administration of the funds of Chinese temples.
