13. Watchmen Bill.-The Attorney General addressed the Council and moved that the Council should resolve itself into a Committee of the whole Council for the further consideration of the Bill intituled An Ordinance to provide for the registration and regulation of watchmen.

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question put and agreed to.

Bill read a second time.

Council in Committee on the Bill.

The following amendments embodying the changes resulting from the considera-

tion of the Watchmen's petition were approved :

In clause 3 sub-clause (1) the word “police was inserted before the

word "watchmen" in sub-clauses (a), (b), (c) and (d).

Clause 7 was deleted and the subsequent clauses were accordingly

re-numbered.

A new clause 17 was also added as follows:-

"This Ordinance shall come into operation on the 1st day of May,

1928."

On Council resuming, the Attorney General reported that the Bill had passed

through Committee and moved that it be read a third time as amended. The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

The Bill was then read a third time and passed.

ADJOURNMENT.

14. The Council then adjourned until Thursday, the 19th day of April, 1928.
