The rainfall for the month of January at the Botanical Gardens was 2ins. ·17 on 12 days, at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellett, it was lin. 25 on 8 days, and at the Police Station, Taipo, it was lin. 19 on 3 days.

The lowest reading of the barometer (M.S.L.) was 29ins. 871 at 16h. on the 28th. The maximum squall velocity, as recorded by the Dines-Baxendell anemograph, was at the rate of 47 miles per hour at 23h. 25m. on the 7th.
