The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The elevation given is the height of focal plane above high water.

AUSTRALIA-SOUTH COAST.

Spencer Gulf.

Wedge Island Light.—Intended Alteration in Characteristics.

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the Single Flashing White Light on Wedge Island will be replaced by a Group Flashing White Light on or about 1st January, 1918.

Position. Lat. 35° 10' S.;

Long. 136° 29′ E.

Structure.-Lantern carried on a square wooden cylinder house, painted red, in position of old skeleton tower. Height, 22 feet.

Character. Group Flashing White Light showing two flashes in quick succession every ten seconds, thus:-

Elevation.-675 feet.

Visibility.-23 miles.

Power.---5,000 candles.

Remarks. The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given. Charts affected.-Admiralty Chart No. 2389-St. Vincent and Spencer Gulfs.

Cape Don.--Light Established.

WITH reference to Notice No. 17 of 1917, Mariners and others are hereby notified that the flashing white light on Cape Don is now permanently established.
