(4.) A public officer being a widower with children

chargeable to the Fund at the time when he leaves the service shall on the last of such children ceasing to be chargeable to the Fund ccase to contribute thereto and shall be deemed to have retired therefrom altogether.

(5.) A public officer, with children chargeable to the Fund at the time when he leaves the ser- vice, who subsequently becomes a widower shall thereupon, or upon the last of such children ceasing to be chargeable to such Fund, (whichever event shall last happen), cease to contribute thereto and be deemed to have retired therefrom altogether.

(6.) If a public officer, who is a widower without children entitled to pension, dies while in the public service, one half of the contributions made by him to the Fund since the death of his last wife or, if at the death of such wife any child remained chargeable to such Fund, after the time when such' child ceased to be chargeable thereto, shall be repaid without interest to his legal representative."

5. Section 12 (1) of the Principal Ordinance is hereby amended by the addition of the following provisos :-

"Provided that such public officer shall notify his decision to the directors within a period of one month after the date of the abatement of his emoluments or within a period of four months after the date of his retirement on pension : Provided further that if such public officer fails to notify his decision to the directors within a period of one mouth or of four months as the case may be, or if such public officer dies be- fore he has notified his decision to the directors he shall be deemed to have elected to contribute on the lower salary or pension,`

6. Section 14 (1) of the Principal Ordinance is hereby amended by the omission of the words "other than a bachelor" in the first line thereof.

7. Section 35 of the Principal Ordinaneo is hereby amended by inserting the words "or two hundred and twenty-five pounds sterling in the case of sterling contri- butions" after the words "fifteen hundred dollars”,

8. The Schedule to the Principal Ordinance is hereby repealed and Schedule A to this Ordinance is substituted therefor.

Provided that, in the case of a public officer who has be- come a contributor to the Fund prior to the 1st January, 1907, if the pension calculated under the Tables in the repealed Schedule is in excess of the pension calculated under the Tables in the Schedule to this Ordinance the higher amount shall be allowed.

9. The several Ordinances and parts of Ordinance men- tioned in Schedule B to this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

10. This Ordinance shall come into operation on the First day of January, 1907.
