The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The heights given are heights of focal plane aboce high water.

AUSTRALIA NORTH WEST COAST.

Jarman Island Light-Intended alteration in characteristics-Signal

Station discontinued.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the Fixed White Light on Jarman Island will be altered to Flashing White Light, and further that the Signal Station will be discontinued on or about 1st August, 1917.

Position. Lat. 20° 39′ S; Long. 117° 13′ E.

Details.-The Fixed White Light will be replaced by a new Light having the

undermentioned characteristics :--

Character. Single flashing White Light showing one flash every three seconds

thus:

Eclipse 2 secs.

Power-3,000 candles.

Note.--The Light will be unwatched, and the Signal Station discontinued.

Remarks. The other details of the Light will remain unchanged. No further

notice will be given.

Charts affected.--Admiralty Chart No. 1055-Bedout Island to Cape Cuvier and

Plan Port Walcott.
