The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The heights given are heights of focal plane above high water.

AUSTRALIA TORRES STRAIT.

Booby Island Light---Intended Alteration in Characteristics.

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the power of the Revolving White Light on Booby Island will be increased, and the duration of Light will be reduced to 9 seconds on or about 15th June, 1917.

Position.--Latitude, 10° 36' S.; Longitude, 141° 55' E.

Character-White revolving every minute, duration of light 9 seconds, thus:-

Power. -120,000 candles.

Note. The other details of the Light will remain unchanged.

Remarks. No farther notice will be given.

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the power of the Revolving White. Light on Sandy Cape will be increased, and the duration of Light will be reduced to 9 seconds on or about 15th April, 1917.
