His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint EDWARD JONES, First Boarding Officer, to act as Harbour Master, Emigration and Customs Officer, Registrar of Shipping, Superintendent of the Gunpowder Depôt, Collector of Light Dues and Superin- tendent of Imports and Exports, with effect on and from the 3rd instant.

No. 859.-It is hereby notified that Letters Patent dated the 2nd October, 1906, have been granted to LINOTYPE AND MACHINERY LIMITED, Linotype and Printing Machinery Manufacturers, of 188 and 189 Fleet Street, London, England, who are the Assignees of Mr. PHILIP MIDDLETON JUSTICE, for an invention for Improvements in or relating to the Composing Mechanism of Linotype Machines.

No. 861.—In continuation of Notification No. 731 of 1905 it is hereby notified that the next Examination of the Koyal Sanitary Institute of Great Britain, in Practical Hygiene for School Teachers" will be held by the local branch at the Sanitary Institute Room, No. 9 Beaconsfield Arcade, on the following dates :—

Written Examination : Part I.-Monday, October 22ud. 9 a.m. to 11.30 a m. Written Examination: Part II.--Monday, October 22nd, 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Vicâ coce Examination (both Parts).----Wednesday, October 24th, at 10 a.m. Applications on printed forms, which may be obtained from the Local Secretary, Mr. ADAM GIBSON, Sanitary Department Offices, should be sent in not later than Friday, October 19th.

The Fee for each l'art of the Examination is $10, and these fees will, in the case of successful candidates who are employed in Government or Graut-in-aid Schools, be refunded to them by the Government.
