SOUTHERN APPROACH TO THE YANGTZE.
PROVISIONAL MARKING OF THE TUNGSHA CHANNEL.
NOTICE is hereby given that a good channel has cut through the banks to the northward of the Tungsha Light-vessel and Middle Ground, which is to be known as the Tungsha Channel, and has been marked pro- visionally by means of Buoys (these Buoys do not in any way interfere with the Aids to Navigation marking the South Channel) as follows :—
Tungsha Banks Buoy.~~A 10-foot conical Buoy, painted red and surmounted by a black ball, has been placed to the south-eastward of the Tungsha Banks in 25 feet of water, 8.05 miles S. 770 E. of the Tungsha Light-vessel, to mark the entrance of the chamel.
Tungsha Buoy.—A 6-foot conical Buoy, painted red and surmounted by a block triangle, has been placed in 18 feet of water, 2.25 miles N. 17° E. of the Tungsha Light-vessel, to mark the southern edge of the Tungsha Banks.
House Island Buoy.--A 4-foot spherical Buoy, painted red, has been placed in 17 feet of water, 3.96 miles S. 48° E. of House Island Beacon, to mark the edge of the bank that extends to the south-eastward of House Island,
House Island Crossing Buoy.- A 6-foot conical Buoy, painted as a spit Buoy and surmounted by a black diamond, has been placed in 17 feet of water, 1.3 miles S. 47° W. of House Island Beacon, to mark the crossing on to the Kiutoan Flats.
Kintoan Flats Buoy. --A 4-foot Num Buoy, painted black, has been placed in 17 feet of water, 2.9 miles S. 864° W. of House Island Beacon, to mark the northern edge of the Middle Ground.
All bearings given are magnetic and depths are for low water of spring tides.

REFERRING to Harbour Notification No. 2 of 1906, Notice is hereby given that the Superintendent of Customs and the Doyen of the Cousular Body having decided to withdraw the declaration of infection as regards HONGKONG from 15th instant, the General Medical Inspection of vessels arriving from that Port will be discontinued from that date.
The importation of the following articles from the above Port is, except as provided for in Harbour Notification No. 6 of 1996, still prohibited :---
Rags, old paper, coffins containing corpses, and earth and mould.
