(3.) No refund shall be payable in respect of any quarter to any person who has not paid within the first month of the quarter all the rates payable by him in respect of that quarter.
(1.) For the purpose of this section a person shall be deemed to have paid the special war rate although he may have paid such rate through the landlord, hotel keeper, or boarding house keeper upon whose premises he resides and not direct to the Treasurer: Provided that in such case the Treasurer shall decide what amount of special war rate has been so paid.

No. 267. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. DAVID Wood to act as Assessor of Rates, in addition to his other duties, during the absence on leave of Mr. ARTHUR CHAPMAN, V.D., or until further notice, with effect from the 23rd May, 1917.
