Buoyage of Dangers in the West River.

Notice is hereby given that triangular surface buoys have been placed to mark the following dangers during the low river season :--

Red buoys mark the starboard side of the channel and black buoys the port side of the channel for vessels bound up river.

A position line for each buoy is marked by whitewash dabs and range poles on shore painted white. The buoys are liable to be dragged out of position by woodrafts, and masters of vessels are warned that they must not be considered as reliable.

A plan showing the position of buoys relatively to the dangers they mark can be seen at the Harbour Master's Office.

Rivoli Bay Beachport Jetty Light.

MASTERS of Vessels and others are hereby informed that, on and after the night of November 18th, a Chance Bros.' Sixth Order Port Light will be exhibited from the sea end of the Beachport Jetty, in place of the inferior light previously shown.

The light is exhibited from a cast-iron pillar painted red, its focal plane being 25ft. above ordinary high water, showing a fixed white light, as heretofore, between the bear- ings of 1° 0' (N. 5° 10′ W. mag.) and 13° 0′ (N. 6° 50′ E. mag.), and a red sector between the bearings of 1° 0′ (N. 5° 10′ W. mag.), and 283° (N. 83° W. mag.).

In clear weather the white light should be visible for a distance of about 10 miles. and the red light about three miles.

Approximate position--Lat. 37° 29′ 52" S.; Long. 140° 1' 43" E.

This affects Admiralty Chart No. 1007.
