British Government Notification concerning the Exercise by British Warships of the Right of Visit and Search of Merchant Vessels.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 618, notice is hereby given that, under instruc- tions from the Chinese Government, the following extract from a communication from the British Government to the Chinese Government is made public:-

"The special boarding procedure by night will be cancelled as from May 20th. Merchant vessels are to disregard these night signals if met with after the date mentioned."

Alteration in Buoyage.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Navigation Buoys, No. 1 red (carrying a white light), and Nos. 2 and 3 red, which mark the "five fathom" line west and south-west of the deep water anchorage, Weihaiwei, will be temporarily removed on the 1st July, 1916. They will not be replaced until further notice.

THE enclosings of dangers from Gulf of St. Alga down to Jioumen Ula, which were taken away during the winter, have been put up again, in conformity with the description of maritime warning signals of 7th (20th) May.
