COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
With reference to Government Notification No. 608 of the 10th July, 1936, (whereby the distinguishing mark EA was allotted to certain East African dependencies in the list of countries, etc., which are parties by ratification or accession to the International Convention relative to Motor Traffic signed at Paris on the 24th April, 1926, or to which the Convention has been extended) it is hereby notified for general information that under Article 5 of the Convention, and with effect from the 1st July, 1939, certain of such dependencies have been allotted new distinguishing marks as follows:-
Kenya Colony and Protectorate
Tanganyika Territory
Uganda Protectorate
Zanzibar
Northern Rhodesia
EAK
EAT
EAU
EAZ
NR
The letters EA will remain the distinguishing mark for Nyasaland for the present.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
With reference to Government Notifications No. 917 of the 20th November, 1936, No. 603 of the 27th August, 1937, and No. 103 of the 11th February, 1938, the following should be added to the list of countries, etc., which are parties by ratification or accession to the International Convention regarding the Taxation of Foreign Motor Vehicles, 1931-
Kenya Colony and Protectorate
Northern Rhodesia
Nyasaland
Uganda Protectorate
Tanganyika Territory Zanzibar.
The Government of Iraq has also acceded with effect from the 20th March, 1939.
With reference to Government Notification No. 874 of the 10th November, 1938, the paragraph relating to the Government of Iraq is cancelled.
