No. 681.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Chief Inspector of Police, FREDERICK EDWARD EVELYN BOOKER, to act as Assistant Superintendent of Police, with effect from 27th August, 1938.

No. 682. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL, A.M. Inst. C.E., to be a Member of the Authorized Architects Consulting Committee, vice Mr. HERBERT THOMAS JOHNSON, M.C., F.S.I., resigned.

NOTICES.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEpartment.

It is hereby notified that His Majesty, by Orders in Council pursuant to sections 37 and 65 (b) of the Merchant Shipping (Safety and Load Line Conventions) Act, 1932, has declared-

(1) that the Safety Convention has been applied to Burma as an overseas territory of His Majesty, in pursuance of the provisions of Article 62 of the Convention;

(2) that the Load Line Convention has been applied to Burma as an overseas territory of His Majesty, in pursuance of the provisions of Article 21 of the Convention;

(3) that the Government of Greece has acceded to the Safety Convention.

These Orders in Council appeared in the London Gazette of 28th June, 1938.

NOTE. The Safety and Load Line Conventions formerly applied to Burma as part of India.
