No. 639.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under instructions from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Lieutenant- Colonel HENRY BARRON ROSE, M.C., late the Wiltshire Regiment, to be Commandant of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 17th August, 1938.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
In accordance with Regulations 8 and 9 of the Regula- tions set out in Second Schedule of the Pleasure Grounds and Bathing Places Regulation Ordinance, No. 29 of 1936, it is hereby notified for general information that His Excellency the Governor has found it expedient to close temporarily from 1st September, 1938, and until further notice, areas "O" and 'P" at King's Park Recreation Ground allotted to the Hong Kong Chinese Y.M.C.A. and the Director of Education respectively.
