APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 632.--- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve the appoint- ment of Mrs. ALTA FRANCES STOUT, M.B., Ch.B, (Edin.), to be Secretary to the Midwives Board and Supervisor of Midwives, with effect from 21st July, 1938.

No. 633.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under the provisions of Statute 4 of the Second Schedule of the University Ordinance, 1911, Ordinance No. 10 of 1911, to nominate Mr. DAVID CHARLES EDMONDSTON as a Member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong during the absence from the Colony of Sir VANDELEUR MOLYNEUX GRAYBURN, Kt., with effect from 29th April, 1938.

No. 634.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. PHILIP DANIEL CRAWLEY to act as Controller of Stores during the absence from the Colony of Mr. WILLIAM JOHN ANDERSON, or until further notice, with effect from the 18th August, 1938.

No. 635.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. WALTER MORRIS THOMSON to be an Assistant Superintendent of Imports and Exports, with effect from 18th August, 1938.

No. 636.- It is notified for information that Mr. WILLIAM JAMES LOCKHART-SMITH resumed duty as an Assistant Crown Solicitor with effect from 7th June, 1938.

19th August, 1938.

No. 637.-It is hereby notified that Mr. ToYOICHI NAKAMURA, Consul-General for Japan at Hong Kong resumed charge of the Consulate-General for Japan on 17th August, 1938.

No. 638. His Excellency the Governor, under instructions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has been pleased to recognize Mr. TADAHISA MATSUDAIRA as Vice- Consul of Japan at Hong Kong.
