No. 100. It is hereby notified that is Excellency the Governor, under instruc- tions received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has been pleased to make the following appointment:-

Miss ELSIE MARY PARKES, B.Sc., to be an Assistant Mistress, Education

Department, with effect from 3rd February, 1938.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under section 4 of the Midwives Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 22 of 1910, to appoint Dr. PHILIP FRANCIS SHELSLEY COURT to be a Member of the Midwives Board for a term of three years, vice Dr. WILLIAM CHARLES WALLACE NIXON, resigned, with effect from the 11th December, 1937.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

With reference to Government Notification No. 917 of 20th November, 1936, it is hereby notified that a notification has been given to the Secretary-General of the League of Nations of the application of the International Convention regarding the Taxation of Foreign Motor Vehicles, 1931, to the Straits Settlements, the Federated Malay States (viz., Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Pahang) and the Unfederated Malay States of Johore, Kedah, Kelantan, Trengganu and Perlis, and that application of the Convention to those territories will become effective on the 6th May, 1938.
