Gradients are rather steep over S China, and strong NE winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel and the N part of the China Sea. Forecast:

On the 29th at 12.15 p. The barometer has risen in S Japan, and fallen in N Japan. The depression is moving into the Pacific to the S of Hokkaido. Pressure has increased over S China and the Philippines, and decreased slightly over N China and Formosa. The highest pressure is over Central China. It remains low over the N part of the China Sea, particularly to the S of Formosa. Strong NE winds are indicated in the Formosa Channel, and variable winds over the N part of the China Sea. Forecast:- variable winds; unsettled, showery.'

No. 503.--Terms of proposed Leases of Foreshores and Sea Bed, situate at Hang Hau Village, New Territories.
Notice is hereby given under Section 3 of the Foreshores and Sea Bed Ordinance, 1901, that it is proposed by His Excellency the Governor to grant under the said Ordinance Leases of the Foreshores and Sea Bed or land covered by the Sea situate at Hang Hau Vil- lage, in the New Territories, in the Colony of Hongkong, the particulars and measurements whereof are specified in the schedule hereto, and the limits and boundaries whereof are shewn on a plan which is deposited and may be seen at the District Land Office, Taipo, such Leases to be granted for the respective terms of 75 years from the 1st day of July, 1898, with the option of renewal by the Lessees for the remainder of the term of 99 years commencing the 1st July 1898, less the last 3 days thereof for which the said premises are now held by His Majesty the King from His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of China. The Leases to be in the usual form and to contain a special covenant that the said premises are to be used for the purposes of reclamation and building and for other similar purposes.
