An Ordinance to make provision in connection with the present war with respect to Bills of Exchange payable outside the Colony.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Bills of Ex- Short title. change Ordinance, 1916.

2. Without prejudice to the operation of sub-section (1) Delay in of section 46 of the Bills of Exchange Ordinance, of a

presentment

bill for 1885, delay in the presentment for payment of a bill of payment exchange, where the proper place for payment is outside due to war. the Colony, is excused if the delay, whether occurring 4 & 5 Geo. before or after the commencement of this Ordinance, is, 5, c. 82, s. 1. or has been, Guc either directly or indirectly to circum- Ordinance stances arising out of the present war, or to the No. 3 of impracticability, owing to similar circumstances, of trans- 1885. mitting the bill to the place of payment with reasonable safety.
