PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

No. 300.-Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 17th April, 1906, for the Extension of the Lighthouse Pier at Green Island.

No work will be permitted on Sundays.

For Form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at the Public Works Office.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. 301.--Particulars and Conditions of the letting by Tender of Granite Quarry on the North side of the Island of Chu La Kuk near Lantao Island, New Territory.

Scaled tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 30th April next.

Tenders must be in a form which will be supplied by the Director of Public Works. The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

Particulars and Conditions of the letting by tender, by order of His Excellency the Governor of Granite Quarry at Chu Ln Kuk Island, New Territory, for a term of 5 years, commencing from the 1st January, 1906.

CONDITIONS OF LETTING,

1. The lot is delineated on a plan deposited in the Public Works Department. 2. The person whose tender is accepted in writing for the lot, shall pay into the Colonial Treasury, within seven days of such acceptance, a sum equivalent to six months' rent of such lot and shall also, within the same period, deposit in the Colonial Treasury approved security equal in value to at least one year's rent for the lot as a guarantee for the fulfilment of his tender. He shall then be entitled to and shall exccute, on demand, a lease from the Crown of the piece of ground comprised in such lot for Five years commencing from the 1st January, 1906, at the rental specified in his tender, payable half-yearly in advance on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in every year. Such lease to be in the usual form of quarry leases in the New Territory of Hongkong.

3. Permission will be given to the lessee to erect and maintain such temporary piers and jetties as may, in the opinion of the Director of Public Works, be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone ent in the quarry into junks or boats; the sites and dimen- sions of such temporary piers and jetties shall be subject in all respects to the approval of the Director of Public Works, who may at any time direct the removal of any such tem- porary pier or jetty to any other place; the expense of such removal to be borne by the

4. Should the person whose tender is accepted fail to comply with these conditions or of them, the sum deposited by him shall be forfeited to the Government and the tender made by him shall thereupon be deemed to be cancelled, and he shall be liable to make good any loss or damage which the Government may incur through his failure to comply with such conditions.

5. No interference to be caused to any existing buildings within the area of the quarry.
