Opening of Chihachoff Flashlight.

On October 19th (1st November) a newly erected flashlight has been opened on Chihachoff Island, at the entrance to St. Olga Gulf.
Location:-Lat., N. 43° 41'.
Long., E. 135° 17'.
Colour of light :- White.
Character of light :----Eclipsing, viz., 2′08 seconds flash, 0·6 seconds eclipse. Mathematical distance of visibility of horizon :--21.9.
Elevation of light :-365 feet above sea-level and 5 feet above foundation.
Description of lighthouse :----White octangular iron tower 9 feet high.
Arc of lightLights from 26° to 339°.
Fog-signal-Bell.
In view of the cessation of navigation the lighting of Claxter Camp Lighthouse and of De Castries valvular lights has been discontinued from Ist (14th) November, 1915.
