NOTICES TO MARINERS.

TRANSLATION.

Notification No. 383 of Department of Communications.

Hokkaido.

Hakodate Harbour.

NOTICE is hereby given that Hakodate Lightship, N. of Benten-zaki (Point Anama), Hakodate Harbour, Hokkaido, will be permanently withdrawn at the end of June, this year, and at the same time Hakodate Lighted Fog Signal Buoy be established as follows:—

Hakodate Lighted Fog Signal Buoy.

Description Iron, cylindrical, red, surmounted by a lattice work supporting a lantern, a fog bell and a fog siren.

Height of light: 15 shaku above the water.

Character of light: Acetylene-gas flashing white, showing one flash every 3 seconds.

Illuminated are :- The whole horizon.

Candle power:----150.

Visible distance: -9 nautical miles in clear night.

Fog signals: Both the fog bell and the fog siren are operated automatically by the

waves.

Further notice will be given after the works have been effected.

SOUTH RANGUEY CHANNEL. EASTERN APPROACH.

THE Master of the British S.S. Chowtai reports that he passed close to the Shoal marked 34 fathoms situated in Latitude 7° 7′ 0′′ North, Longitude 117° 48′ 30′′ East and that it did not appear to carry more than 6 feet of water.

Pitman-King Crossing Buoy Shifted.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 11th June the most easterly of the Pitman-King Crossing Buoys will be shifted about 1 cables north 25° east from its present position.
