TRANSLATION.
Notification No. 935 of Department of Communications.
West Coast of Kysuhu.
NOTICE is hereby given that the character and others of Gotsu-sho Beacon Light, N. of Amakusa-shimoshima, Hayasaki-seto, Province of Higo, will be changed as follows at the beginning of January, 1915:-
Gotsu-sho Beacon Light.
Character of light:-Acetylene gas flashing white, showing one (1) flash every
six (6) seconds.
Illuminated arc:--An arc 330°, from N. 17° E., through E., S. and W., to
N. 13° W. (Magnetic bearings taken from seaward).
Candle power:-250.
Visible distance:-11 nautical miles in clear night.
Further notice will be given after the above changes have been effected.

Caballo Island,
THE Occulting white light on Caballo Island, southern entrance to Manila Bay, will be replaced on or about January 20, 1915, by an automatic acetylene gas light, showing two short white flashes every five seconds.

Pandan.
On or about January 23, 1915, the fixed red light at Pandan (Vigan), west coast of Luzon, will be replaced by an occulting white light every 32 seconds, thus: Light, 7 seconds; eclipse, 4 seconds; light, 17 seconds; eclipse, 4 seconds. Position, are and range of visibility will be the same.

LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS No. 116.
Sand Patch in Back Reach: Canton Harbour.
REFERRING to Local Notice to Mariners No. 115; a survey in the vicinity of the Birds Nest Rock Buoy discloses that what was supposed to be a sand ridge, is in reality a small patch of hard sand about 70 feet in diameter having least water 13.3 feet reduced to zero of the Customs Tide Gauge.
From the centre of the patch the spire of the Berlin Mission Church at Fong Chuen bears N. 54° W. magnetic distant 1,675 feet.
