SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

No. 8 of 1914.'

WEST COAST-WATERLOO BAY (PORT ELLISTON).

MASTERS of Vessels and others are hereby informed that on and after the night of the 3rd May, 1914, two (2) lights will be established at Port Elliston, which in line lead over the deepest and smoothest water on the Bar of Waterloo Bay.

The back light is exhibited from a pillar painted red, on the sandhill on the N. W. de of the jetty, at a height of 32 feet above H. W., shows white over an are of 90° to award, and should be visible at a distance of 11 miles in clear weather.

The front light is exhibited from an iron tower painted red, on the outer end of the jetty, at a height of 18 feet above H. W., shows red over an arc of 90° to seaward, and hould be visible at a distance of 2 miles in clear weather.

The distance between the lights is 1,200 feet, and the bearing on which they are in line is 33°, mag. N. 29° 50′ E.

Approximate position of back light:--Lat. 33° 38' S.; long. 134° 52′ E.

This affects Admiralty Chart No. 1061.

GULF OF TOKYO.

NOTICE is hereby given that Fort No. 3 Staff Light on Fort No. 3, Gulf of Tokyo, will be withdrawn, and in place of it the following lighthonse be newly established, at the middle of June, 1914 :-

Fort No. 3 Lighthouse,

Position :- -214 shaku about S. E. of the Staff Light which is to be withdrawn.

Description:-Hexagonal wooden tower, painted white.

Height of light-203 shaku above the base, 67 shaku above the water.

Character of light :-Fifth order Pintsch's gas occulting red, light three (3) sec., eclipse three (3) sec.

Illuminated are:

Candle power :-

-The whole horizon.

-200.

Visible distance :--13 nautical miles in clear night.

Note: The light being unwatched, its periodical irregularities and accidental extinguish- ment may occur, and in the latter case there be some delay in relighting it.

Further notice will be given after the above works have been completed.
