54. Every person who falsely and deceitfully personates, Punishment or aids and abets in falsely and deceitfully personating, an emigrant or intending emigrant at any attendance beforo ation of
emigrant. or examination by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs or NI Emigration Officer, required by this or any other enactment for the time being in force relating to Asiatic emigration, shall be guilty of misdemeanor, and shall, on summary conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 250 dollars and to imprisonment for any terin not exceeding 6 months,
55.-(1.) Every person who commits any contravention Penalty for of any rule made under the provisions of section 44 of furnishing
false return, this Ordinance shall be guilty of an offence and shall be fraudulent liable upon summary conviction to a fine not exceeding shipment, 100 dollars in respect of such contravention.
(2.) The keeper of any hotel or boarding-house who knowingly furnishes any false or incorrect return or other particulars required of him, or who obtains or attempts to obtain by fraud, intimidation, or force, the shipment of any Asiatic emigrant of intending emigrant, and every person who aids or abets such keeper in so doing, shall, où summary conviction, be liable to a peualty not exceeding 500 dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
(3.) Any such keeper and his sureties shall also bo liable to the enforcement of his and their bond, and the licence of such keeper may be suspended or cancelled by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs.

56. The owners or charterers of any emigrant ship or General British emigrant ship and any emigration pussage broker, penalty. and any intending emigrant by any such ship, and any master or other person in charge of any such ship who fails to comply with or commits any breach of the provisions of this Ordinance so far as they may respectively be bound thereby, and any person granting or knowingly uttering any forged certifiento, permit, notice, or other document under this Ordinance shall, without prejudice to any other proceeding, civil or criminal, be liable, on summary con- viction, to a fine not exceeding 500 dollars or imprisonment for any term not exceeding 6 months.

57.
