Name.-Sabo Sho Lighthouse.
Position.--Latitude 23° 32′ 8′′ N.; Longitude 119° 43′ 11′′ E. (according to the
Japanese Admiralty Chart No. 235).
Construction and painting.-Octagonal brick tower, painted with black and red
horizontal bands.
Height of light from the base.-36 feet.
Height of light above the water.-79 feet.
Order and character of light.--4th Order White Group Flashing Light by aceton gas,
showing 2 flashes during 1 second, followed by an eclipse of 5 seconds. Illuminated arc.- -The whole horizon; but a red ray illuminates 6 degrees of horizon from N. 32° W. to N. 26° W., to cover Rokushaku Sho (Six Feet RF.), and another red ray is shown for an arc of 170 degrees of horizon from N. 29° E., through E. & S., to S. 19° W., covering Nan Sho, Kentei Gan and other dangers lying to the Westward of the Lighthouse. The bearings are magnetic and from seaward.
Candle power. About 1,000.
Distance visible.-15 nautical miles in clear weather.
NOTE. The Light is unwatched. Should the light go out by accident, there may be some
delay before relighting it. Mariners are cautioned accordingly.
