No. S. 227.-It is hereby notified that information has been received from the Mili- tary Authorities that Gun Practice will be carried out as under :-

On Monday, the 28th July:-

From Lyemun, in a North-Easterly direction, between the hours of 9.30 a.in.

and 1 p.m.

All ships, junks and other vessels are to keep clear of the ranges.

No. S. 228.-It is hereby notified that the Letting of the following private Granite Quarry on the East side of Chek Lap Kok Island, New Territories, by Public Auction will be held at Chek Lap Kok at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the 6th day of August, 1913.

The Quarry is let for the term of one year from the 15th day of August, 1913, subject to the Special Conditions hereunder specified.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS.

1. The area to be leased is shown on a plan deposited in the Public Works Depart-

The person making the highest bid being not less than a monthly rental of $30 shall pay to the Assistant District Officer, South, within 7 days of the date of auction the sum of $90 by way of deposit. He will then on application to the Assistant District Officer, South, be entitled to a permit to quarry granite from the Lot for the period of one year from the 15th day of August, 1913, at a monthly rental of the sum bid payable in advance.

3. The Government will permit the Lessee to erect and maintain such temporary piers or jetties, as may, in the opinion of the Assistant District Officer, South, be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone cut in the quarry. The sites and dimensions of such temporary piers shall be subject to the approval of the Assistant District Officer, South, who may at any time direct the removal of such temporary piers; the expense of such removal to be paid by the Lessee.

4. Should the Permittee fail to comply with these conditions or any of them his deposit will be forfeited and the permit of the said quarry shall be deemed to be cancelled and the Permittee will be liable to make good any loss or damage which the Government may incur through his failure to comply with such conditions.
