(9.) No person other than the Farmer or his li- censees shall have in his possession more than five taels of prepared opium without the written permission of the Superin- tendent."

(i) by the repeal of section 36 thereof and by the sub-

stitution therefor of the following section :-

36. It shall be unlawful for the Opium Farmer Export bis licensees or any other person whomsoever to illegal with-

out permit. export or cause to be exported prepared opium or dross opium from the Colony unless he shall have first obtained the permission in writing of the Superintendent who may require such particulars of destination, mode of despatch or otherwise as he may deem necessary.

Provided always that this section shall not be construed as applying to the possession by a passen- ger by steamer from Hongkong to any country or place not within the Colony of a quantity of pre- pared opium or dross opium, to be used for personal consumption on the voyage, not exceeding five mace for every day of duration of the voyage."

(.) by the repeal of section 37 thereof and by the sub-

stitution therefor of the following section

37. (k.) in section 51 (2) by the deletion of the words against this Ordinance" and by the substitution therefor of the words and shall be liable on sum- mary conviction to a penalty not exceeding $2,000 or at the Magistrate's discretion to imprisonment with or without hard labour for any term not exceed- ing twelve mouths "..

(1.) in section 53 (5) by the deletion of the words "against this Ordinance "and by the substitution therefor of the words "and shall be liable on sum- mary conviction to a penalty not exceeding $2,000 or at the Magistrate's discretion to imprisonment with or without hard labour for any term not exceed- ing twelve months".

(m.) in section 59 (1) thereof by the deletion of the word him" and by the substitution therefor of the words "the Governor ".

(n.) by the addition at the end of section 59 of the

following sub-section:--

(3.) Where an agent or servant of the Farmer is

appointed the Governor may require the Farmer to give security for the good beha- viour and integrity of such servant or agent."

(0.) in section 67 (1) and also in sections 68 (1) and 69 by the insertion in each case after the words "any Police" of the word "Revenue".
