No. S. 387.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which must be clearly marked "Tender for Labour, Provisions, Stores, etc., H.K.V.D.C.", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, 22nd September, 1941, for the provision of Supplies, Stores, Labour, Provisions, including the supply of cooking, preparing and eating utensils, cooks, serving boys and coolies. The whole of the fore- going will be required by the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps during the period 19th October, 1941, to 18th April, 1942, and will include supplies for daily training and camps, etc. as may be ordered from day to day. Nett prices must be quoted for all Provisions and these must include their cost of delivery to Volunteer Headquarters, Garden Road.
Each tenderer must produce with his tender a receipt for the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300), which he has deposited with the Accountant-General, as a pledge of the bona fides of his tender. This deposit will be returned to the Tenderer later, whether his tender is accepted or not.
The successful Tenderer will be required to deposit the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) with the Accountant-General, which sum will be forfeited to the Crown should the Tenderer refuse, or fail, to carry out to the satisfaction of the Government the whole or any part of the tender which may be accepted. Each tenderer must quote for each and every item on the tender form but the Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender and reserves to itself the right of accepting ALL or ANY PART of a tender.

No. 8. 388.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for H.K.V.D.C. Matsheds Contract", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon on Monday, the 22nd day of September, 1941, for the supply and maintenance of matsheds required for various camps by the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, for a period of six months from 19th October, 1941 to 18th April, 1942.
Tenders must be wholly contained in the form of tender which must not be altered in any way. Any quotation contained in or varied by a separate letter will be dis- regarded.
Nett prices must be quoted and these must include delivery of materials to the places appointed.
No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited with the Accountant-General the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bona fides of his tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person fails or refuses to carry out his tender should the tender be accepted. Save as aforesaid the sum deposited shall be returned to the tenderer whether his tender is accepted or
not.
