NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.

1. Firing practice as under is notified for 1st September, 1941 :-

(a) Heavy gun practice between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.

Firing Areas"B" and "C" will be affected.

Alternative dates-2nd and 3rd September, 1941.

(b) Light gun practice between the hours of 6.00 p.m and 12.00 midnight.

Firing Areas "D" and "E" will be affected.

2. Light gun firing practice will be carried out on 2nd, 3rd and 5th September, 1941, between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12.00 midnight.

Firing Areas "D" and " E" will be affected.

3. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of ships and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10 as amended by Hong Kong Government Notifications of various dates, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing areas affected or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

Existence of Shoal Eastward.

Details.-An unsurveyed shoal about of a mile long in an E.N.E. and W.S.W. direction rising out of 22 fathoms has been reported to be about 2 miles E. x N. of Johnston Rock.
